A Bit About Me
Greetings,
I am delighted to introduce myself as a dedicated practitioner with over 25 years of experience in working with trauma in various capacities. Armed with a BSW and MSW, my journey has been enriched by a deep commitment to guiding individuals towards healing and growth. My extensive experience has been my greatest teacher. Through the years, I've had the privilege of working closely with diverse groups, including disabled clients, the elderly, and neurodivergent individuals. My personality, characterized by its straightforward nature and a hearty sense of humor, forms the backdrop for my therapeutic approach.
In the therapeutic space, I have nurtured a philosophy rooted in strength-centered and solution-focused principles. I firmly believe that all individuals possess the capacity for positive change. Substance Abuse, Trauma, Depression, and Anxiety are some of the issues I've consistently encountered, and my approach to each is tailored using a combination of methods that foster resilience and empowerment. The patterns I've observed while working with clients have reinforced the significance of addressing deeply ingrained themes such as childhood abuse/neglect, parental substance abuse, and generational trauma. These insights continue to shape my approach, which underscores the importance of empathy, fostering resilience, understanding, and grace in building a strong therapeutic alliance.
My personal beliefs seamlessly intertwine with my treatment philosophy. A non-judgmental outlook, the provision of safety, compassion, and comfort are not just professional principles but also fundamental to my life philosophy. My faith, the belief in the inherent value of all individuals, and a passionate pursuit of justice and equity form the core of who I am. Beyond my role as a mental health professional, I wear several hats with pride: Mother, Daughter, Wife, Friend, Volunteer, and more. My personal journey through trauma and healing has been the catalyst for my chosen path. Having experienced the transformative power of healing, I am committed to offering others the same gentle, loving guidance that I was fortunate to receive.
The essence of my profession lies in witnessing healing, relief, and recovery unfold before my eyes. I am driven by a belief in the resilience of all individuals and their remarkable capacity to heal. I find inspiration in every transformation.
Thank you for considering my perspective. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate and guide you on your journey towards well-being.
Warm regards,
Maralee
