A Bit About Me
I’m Josiah, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. Prior to becoming a therapist, I earned both a Master of Public Policy and Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from California Lutheran University. My varied educational background has helped shape my curiosity about people, the systems that influence their lives, and the connection between physical, relational, and emotional well-being.
My philosophy toward therapy can be summed up simply: “You lead, I follow.” I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to tell you who you should be, but to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and respect as we explore the experiences, relationships, and stories that have shaped you.
My therapeutic approach is grounded primarily in Narrative Therapy and incorporates Solution-Focused, existential, relational, and parts-based perspectives. I believe that the person is not the problem; the problem is the problem. Together, we can explore how challenges have influenced your life while also identifying the strengths, values, relationships, and experiences that support the life and identity you prefer.
I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families, with special interests in men’s mental health, athletes and performance-related concerns, LGBTQ+ clients, trauma, anxiety, relationship and intimacy concerns, identity and life transitions, substance use, and compulsive behaviors.
Whether you are navigating a difficult chapter, questioning expectations that no longer fit, strengthening an important relationship, or simply trying to better understand yourself, our work begins with what matters most to you.
You lead, I follow.
