Edgar Velazquez

I grew up in El Monte, California and went and received my undergraduate degree from Cal State Long Beach. After graduating I ventured off and wanted to seek a job anywhere in the field of psychology. I worked as an ABA in-home therapist for about 3.5 years. Soon after, I switched over and became a behavioral specialist for a special education classroom. I was given an opportunity of becoming the teacher of that same class room and begam my Master's Degree in Education. I found that I enjoyed the counseling side as it became natural and fulfilling helping out those who struggle with mental health. When COVID came around globally, I switched careers entirely, left my teaching job, applied and was admitted to get my Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Meanwhile, I worked as a group facilitator for an inpatient psychiatric facility for about 2 years. I then branched out and began working as a case manager for an outpatient treatment center that helped those with addiction. After graduating with my master's degree, I received my associate number and was offered a job to be one of the therapists at the same outpatient facility. Past times are art, painting, hiking, and anything physical/outdoors.
